The two meet when their bands were touring together, but "Seraph" and "Urgent Cry" disbanded not to long after. The two's pastor then convinced the two to form their own band, which became know as "Skillet" due to the differences within the two's styles of Rock music. Later, Trey McClurkin joined the band as a temporary drummer, a month later they received a record label from "ForeFront Records", in they released their first album "Skillet" in they released their second album "Hey You, I Love Your Soul" with Korey Cooper who played the keyboard.
Before recording their third album, which was called "Invincible", Steorts left to go to a music college, and was replaced by Kevin Haaland who became the new guitarist, and Korey Cooper became a offical member of "Skillet", not long after the release Trey McClurkin left, and Lori Peters took over as the drummer for "Skillet". They then released their next album "Ardent Worship" in Before their 5th album "Alien Youth" Kevin left and was replaced with Ben Kasica as the next guitarist.
The bands sixth album "Collide" was released in by "Ardent Records". The rights to "Collide" were later bought by in by "Lava Records". Skillet released their seventh album "Comatose" in on October 3rd, the was debuted on the "Billboard " reaching number 55, and on the "Top Christian Albums" the album reached number 4. The eighth album "Awake" was released on the 25th of August in , the album sold 68, copies within the first week was placed number 2 on the "Billboard " on July 14, was "Monster" was released as a new single for the band, and "Hero" was released as a single in March of Later "Skillet" released a deluxe version of the album that included "Dead Inside", "Would It Matter", and a radio edit version of the single "Monster" this version didn't include the growl.
On the 14 of February Ben Kasica left the band, he was in the band for 10 years, they then chose Jonathan Salas, but Salas left "Skillet" on April 9th, former lead guitarist Ben Kasica then rejoined the band and went on touring with them until Seth Morrison became the lead guitarist for the band.
