The commemorations were pretty much global in the music industry. Everyone adores Beethoven as far as I can tell. In England the Oxford Philharmonic is hosting a year-long festival, or was supposed to be, which is perhaps the broadest and most thorough in the whole country. There are lots and lots of recordings coming out.
